Show Dixie Wins Overtime Games at Kanab-Ordemlle "It may be all right for the fans", said Coach Lee Hafen, "but two overtime games in a row are too much for me and the boys". This statement was made by Coach Hafen following the two games played at Kanab on Friday Fri-day night and Orderville on Saturday Satur-day night, which were won in overtime periods by Dixie. Dixie took the first from Kanab by 33-29 and the second from Valley high 41-40. In the Kanab game the Cowboys took the lead with 4-12 margin at 1he end of the 1st quarter, but Dixie pulled up to trail them 15-18 at 1he half. The second half was tough going. Dixie pulled up little with a score of 21-22 at the end of the 3rd quarter and manager! man-ager! to go into a tie with 29 alf at the end of the regular playing time. In the overtime period Es-plin Es-plin broke loose to score 2 fouT shots and a basket to give the Fliers a A point lead which they held to the end. Esplin was high man in this game with 19 points. Whether the Dixie boys let down or the Orderville boya got hot j during the half is hard to say, ' but at any rate OrrVrvilk came back to climb to a 28-37 score at the 3rd quarter and tie the game in the 4th stanza with a 40 all count. In the overtime period Esplin again pulled the Dixie team out with a shot from the foul line to break the score and give the Fliers a 41-40 score and the game. |
