Show j Guest Speaker f V , ' 1 DR. ADAM S. BEN N ION t V Doctor Bennion ' To Speak Friday At Dixie College ' Dr. Adam S. Bennion, special assistant as-sistant to the president of the Utah Power and Light company, will speak on the "Art of a Finer Life" in the general assembly program pro-gram in the Dixie junior college auditorium at 10 o'clock on December Decem-ber 3, the concluuding day of the Fine Arts ' Festival. "Doctor Bennion is one of the most outstanding speakers in Utah," states Pres. H. Glen Smith. A. K. Hafen, head of the department depart-ment of humanities at the college made this statement: "Those who have heard Doctor Bennion speak will need no urging to get them to attend this assembly, because of his ability as a speaker." Doctor Bennion, who is formei church commissioner of education, was the speaker for the college commencement exercises in 1933. Friends of Doctor Bennion state that one of the reasons for his success in life is a resolution he adopted long ago: "Always acquire some new idea or fact each day, in this way your are growing and developing as the days go by." Bleak and a skit of the Beaux Art ball, under the direction ' of Miss Alton Peters and Miss Emma Nielson, faculty members, i The Beaux Art ball will be held j the evening of December 3, in the j St. George recreation hall. During the ball a girl chosen by the class officers and the student body officers of-ficers of the Dixie junior college, will pose in a "living picture." The art exhibit of one hundred and sixty-five paintings is on display dis-play in the recreation hall, and in the auditorium, class rooms and the hallways of the college education educa-tion building. The paintings are far superior in quality to those of former for-mer years, according to Ralph Huntsman, art chairman of the Festival committee. The elementary schools of Washington Wash-ington county are sponsoring an art exhibit in the elementary school building, under the direction of Miss Tillie Winsor, primary supervisor of Washington county schools. This exhibit is held in connection con-nection with the Fine Arts Festival. Festi-val. The Art exhibit which opened on November 22, will not close until December 15, according to Mr. Huntsman. ; The general assembly on December Decem-ber 3 will be from ten until twelve o'clock. Classes will be in session at other regular periods during the day and the public is invited to attend these classes. |
