Show Thanksgiving Dinner Nearly Ends In Tragedy HURRICANE, Utah A Thanksgiving Thanks-giving dinner that nearly ended in tragedy was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Whitney Whit-ney last Thursday. Mr. Whitney and his step-son, Alfred Syphus and family and daughters of his son, Fenton had met for the annual an-nual Thanksgiving dinner. Eight of the eleven diners were served from a pumpkin pie that later caused them to have ptomaine pto-maine poisoning. They first felt the effects about 8 p.m., becoming violently ill. Dr. A. W. McGregor of the McGregor hospital in St. George, was called and by midnight mid-night had the victims out of danger. dan-ger. Ill effects were felt for the next twenty-four hours, report members of the family. Those who were stricken were as follows: George L. Whitney, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Syphus and children Alice, Delbert and Thayne and Fenton Whitney's daughters I Venice and Dorothy. |
