Show SALES PLAN HELPS UTAH SHEEP MEN (Tribune) Utah' sheep men have this year sold 12,000,000 pounds of wool, worth approximately $2,000,000, through the Utah wool marketing association, it was announced Sunday Sun-day by James A. Hooper, secretary secre-tary of the Utah Woolgrowers association, under which the marketing mar-keting organization operates. Over 50 per cent of the Utah wool crop was sold this year through the new association, and in this way the sheep raisers were able to stabilize an otherwise demoralized de-moralized wool market, Mr. Hooper Hoop-er explained. The Utah Wool Marketing Mar-keting association is affiliated with the National Wool Marketing association, as-sociation, formed under the direction direc-tion of the federal farm board. The national organization has done a business this year of $50,000,000, which is looked upon as a notable achievement, considering consid-ering that it has been in existence exist-ence only a year. This is the first time that wool producers have been organized on a large enough scale to wield an influence on the market. As a result, re-sult, wool has been the one outstanding out-standing commodity the price of which has been fairly stable since spring. During that time serious depressions have occurred in other oth-er commodities. While the price of wool has been too low, it has not responded to the substantial declines in foreign markets, but has remained fairly firm until the full parity on some grades has been reached. |
