Show DELAYED TAXES HURTS SCHOOLS Postponement by some counties cf the tax delinquency date, to enable the farmers to utilize their December produce and livestock checks for payment of taxes, and failure of county treasurers in some counties to turn in collections collec-tions already made, in compliance compli-ance with the law, resulted in ! rather short receipts of property taxes to the state treasury in December. De-cember. One result of this is that, unless un-less some of the counties make their payments promptly, the schools of the state will suffer to the extent that their shares in the January distribution of the state district school fund will be short, approximately $3.50 per capita of school population, as compared with last year. |
