Show AMBITIOUS FARM I PROGRAMPLANMED County to be Divided Into Four Districts According to Natural Nat-ural Advantages of E a ch The following letter has been sent to growers of the county listing the produce association's responsibility and its proposed program for next year, followed by a list of what the association associ-ation feels to be responsibility of the grower: Association's Responsibility 1. Divide the county into four districts, dis-tricts, according to natural advantages' advan-tages' and location of towns, and seek to have each district work as a unit. 2. Have one field agent for each district, to increase efficiency and decrease de-crease expense. 3. Ivjake carlot shipments to Salt Lake in April, May and June. . 4. Establish and maintain four truck lines on regular schedule; (a) to Ely and vicinity, April to September; (b) to Las Vegas, April to October; (c), to Richfield and intermediate points, April, May and June; (d), to CJtah parks, June, July, August and September. Septem-ber. 5. Carlot shipments of beans, potatoes pota-toes and molasses in the fall. 6. Pool returns for each district once each week. 7. Sell for cash and distribute re-I re-I turns as soon as possible. 8. Have regular paydays on the I 1st and 15th of each month. 9. Have an efficient system of tick- ets, receipts, sales and freight slips and a proper accounting system. 10. Operate the association in ac- cordance with sound financial practices. I 11. Deduct a certain amount to pay expenses. 12. Create a strong organization by greatly increasing membership. 13. Get maximum! returns and build a foundation for future growth by planting and selling under a definite defi-nite plan. 14. ' Try constantly to determine what are the most desirable varieties, and what are the best marketing methods. 15. Keep down overhead expense by r having a sufficient volume of business. busi-ness. 16. Establish and maintain rigid standards and put only quality produce pro-duce on the market. 17. Regulate peddling in such a way that peddlers are cooperating rather than competing with the association. asso-ciation. Growers' Responsibility 1. Have vision enough to see how necessary an organized effort is for Dixie, be civic-minded enough to maintain main-tain an attitude of genuine cooperation coopera-tion and real faith in the association, I and be patient enough to realize it will take time and sacrifice to develop f something so worth while. 2. Give the officers of the associa-i associa-i tion the benefit of your experience, and a'so work with them in the sugges- tions they offer through meetings, let-i let-i ters and the newspaper. 3. Try to raise and offer for sale i only a quality product. I 4. Make economical use all along ( the line of better equipment, better I seed, better plants and other improved j means and methods of production. I 5- Maintain fertility cheaply, by j use of commercial fertilizers and by plowing under green manure materials, i 6- Battle eternally and intelligently against the increasing horde of in-, in-, sects and weeds which cut yields and t ruin quality. 7- Mkae full use of sound service i agencies, such as your county agent, j the state agricultural college, and the , United States department of agricul- |
