Show I i POWER FRANC H1SE j RENEWED 15 V CITY I- CEDAR CITY With the expi-: expi-: ration of a one-year temporary i franchise to the Southern Utah ' Power company, the city council agreed to grant the company a : ten-year franchise and the for-1 for-1 mal acceptance of the latter has been made by Reid H. Gardner, manager of the company. The company has conceded a 15 per cent reduction to the city street lighting system and agreed to repair the Main gtreet system without cost and to assume the cost of maintenance throughout i the life of the franchise. The work on this repair project is to ! bein within 30 days and will ! consist principally of replacing j the underground cable, the estimated es-timated cost of which is $1500. 1 The company will also pay costs of construction of a power line to the city well in Cedar canyon, which has already been completed complet-ed at a cost of $2300. I The city reserves the right to build its own plant at some future fu-ture date i'i such procedure is 1 deemed advisable during the life j of the contract, to grant franchises fran-chises to other companies, or ' contract with other companies if electricity can be secured at a lower rate than that of the Southern Utah Power company.
