Show Democrats Hold Local Primaries; Delegates Elected The Democratic Precinct primary pri-mary of the East and West St. George precincts was held in the County Courthouse on Monday night September 17. One of the largest crowds In the history of the local party attended with many being turned away because of the lack of room. If this Is indicative of the Interest being taken In the coming election there 'should be one of the hottest hot-test political races in recent years. Harold Snow received the nomination nom-ination for Justice of Peace and Paul Seegmiller was nominated to represent the party for Constable. Con-stable. .Six delegates were nominated in the West precinct and twenty-four twenty-four in the East. Those from the West were Jos. Empey, Jr., John W. Pace, Ann Price, John Benson, M. W. Morris, and Gordon Gor-don Whitehead. Delegates from the East are J. H. Cottam, A. F. Miiles, E. J. Pickett, D. H. Morris, Eric iSnow, A. A. These delegates will convene on Saturday, September 22 at the Courthouse where they will nominate the candidates that will repr.r.: e:u the Democratic party at the coming election. The Offices Of-fices to be tilled are as follows: County Clerk, Treasurer, Recorder, Re-corder, Sheriff, Attorney and two county commissioners. The Sheriff office seems to be the one that is creating the most interest with many delegates having hav-ing announced their candidacy for this nomination. These include in-clude John Benson, John Cot-tam Cot-tam and Ed Michelsen. The assessor's office is likewise much sought after. Those mentioned men-tioned for this nomination are Charles Bringhurst, of Toquer-ville, Toquer-ville, the present incumbent, Kenry Graff, of Santa Clara, Jos. Empey, cf i3t. George, Murray Mur-ray Bracken, of Central, and Sam Wilsop of Hurricane. Laron Andrus' name has been mentioned for the Clerk's office. John T. Woodbury, Sr., present incumbent is not seeking reelection. re-election. Mabel Jarvis is the present County Treasurer not seeking reelection. re-election. There have been no other candidates announce themselves them-selves for this office. There will be two County Commissioners Com-missioners to be elected. Those now holding these offices are Henry Atkin and Will Lund. Mr. Atkin is not running for this office but Will Lund has announced that he is seeking reelection. re-election. Others who rumor says are interested in this office' are A. A. Nelson and W.- B. Mathis. The County Attorney's office is now held by Orval Hafen. It has been rumored that John T. Woodbury, Sr's., name might be put up as a candidate for this position. |
