Show HKHWAY TO BOULDER 01 BEINGJUILT Six Companies Working on Roadway to Connect Arizona Ari-zona with Las Vegas; Scenic Loop Is Planned The stretch of highway to extend ex-tend from the Arizona end of Boulder dam up into the state of Arizona is now under construction, con-struction, with blasting and excavating ex-cavating the right of way the object of the attention of the Six Companies crews. The road will probably pass by the bridge over the Arizona spillway. Whether this road will enter the hill by tunnel above the Arizona Ari-zona end of the dam after crossing cross-ing the river on the dam, is not yet known. It is possible it will wind around and pass over the hill, however. The tunneling plan is under consideration by the bureau of public roads. At any rate, Six Companies is planning construction of a bridge by which this highway will cross the Arizona spillway, huge "gash" in the cliff - upstream from the dam site high up near the elevation ele-vation of the top of the dam and through which surplus water wa-ter will flow down through the huge diagonal tunnels having egress below the dam. An arch concrete bridge will probably be build for the transit tran-sit across the spillway, the road then to pass either through or over the hill. Whether the road goes right into the hill near the spillway or winds around over the hill vilL.be a Iood. which will circle around in the upstream direction after crossing the spillway, spill-way, passing down to the point where the water tank at the steel sharpening shop now rests. The road will form a scenic loop there for parking, so that tourists may disembark there and look out over the dam and the lake from a vantage point on the Arizona side above the dam itself. Cars can then turn around there, by driving around the loop and going back. The bridge across the spillway spill-way probably will be about one-third one-third of the way north of the south end of the 450 foot long spillway. In other words, about 12 5 feet north of the portal of the huge diagonal spillway tunnel. |
