Show Save Future Expense by Using Good Piping One of the most often neglected details de-tails in building a new home, or remodeling re-modeling an old one, Is the plumbing. And by plumbing we mean especially the piping for the water supply and the drains. There are several grades of pipe and a number of materials from which pipe Is made. It would be wise for the prospective home owner and builder to consult with his architect, who is paid for knowing such things, and ask him to recommend some kind of pipe that will withstand the ravages "of rusting too fast. The price of the pipe the architect recommends may be a bit higher than that recommended by the plumbing contractor, however, but anyone can understand that it is real economy to pay a few dollars more at the start for good piping than have to break down plaster and tear out walls five or six ; years later to got at a leaking pipe I that has broken because it has rusted j through. j Of course, a plumbing contractor of j the right type is just as competent as j an architect to recommend piping. He , has had the experience in this line, but I often, in order lo get a contract in a 1 slack season, he will make his bid j small and substitute an inferior grade 1 of pipe. |
