Show NEW FEDERAL RULES IN EFFECT Revision of the federal regulations regula-tions regarding bird limits, enacted prior to the first of the year, necessarily nec-essarily changes the limits of the state laws, according to Commissioner Commis-sioner J. Arthur Mechaxn. New federal regulations restrict shooting of ducks to 15 on any, one day and a limit of 30 in the hunter's hunt-er's possession at any time. The state regulation, which was 25 ducks for one day and 50 in the hunter's possession at any one time, must now conform to the federal regulation. Hours of shooting are 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset. sun-set. Geese are limited by the new regulations reg-ulations to five, either for one clay's shooting or in possession of the hunter after any length of hunting. The state goose law allowed eight geese and 17 ducks, or 25 ducks for the day's shooting. The season is October 1 to December 31, with specific exceptions. The fishing season is not far away and Commissioner Mecham again, brings to the fisherman's attention at-tention state regulations governing the sport. Fishing is allowed in Utah, between be-tween June 15 and October 31 in most sections of the state. Efours for game fish are' between 4 a. m. and 9 p. m. Specific seasons throughout the state include Fish lake, June 15 to October 20; Strawberry Straw-berry reservoir, Strawberry river above the reservoir up to the Victory Vic-tory highway bridge, Indian creek, Horse creek pond, July 1 to October Octo-ber 20. All other tributaries of Strawberry reservoir are closed by law. Limits are restricted to 10 pounds per day, or net to exceed 30 fish. Fish must not be less than seven inches in length. The deer season is October 20 to 30. One male deer with horns not less than 5 inches in length is the limit Boys under 16 years of age are not permitted to hunt deer. Open season on pheasants, sage hens, pine hens, ruffed grouse, quail and mourning doves, with limits, will be declared later bv the commissioner. |
