Show TUESDAY MARKS CLOSE OF ALL WARD MUTUALS Stake Honor Days Set for Saturday, April 16 For Entire Church; All Invited In-vited to Contest Events Honor day programs in M. I. A. gatherings throughout the entire en-tire L. D. S. church were held Tuesday evening, the last meetings meet-ings of the organizations this spring. Special programs were given in the three St. George wards as follows: East Male choruses, "Stars of a Summer Night", and the contest song, "Day Closes". Gleaner girl orations on the slogan, "We stand for physical', mental and spiritual health through the observance of the Word of Wisdom", Irma Snow and Genevieve Heaton. Ladies' choruses, "That Is Jean'1, and the contest song, "Corinna". South Oration on slogan by a Gleaner Girl, Marion White.. ' Double mixed quartets, the contest number, "Sanctus", and "In the Time of Roses". Story, junior class, "The Lost Boy", by Henry Van Dyke, De-vorah De-vorah Whitehead. Gleaner girls' chorus, "Corinna" "Co-rinna" and "Bonnie Dew". Oration on slogan by M man, Walter Christian. West. Mixed chorus, "Sanctus" and "The Kerry Dance." Ladies' chorus, "Corinna" and "My Mother Bids Me Bind My Hair." Retold story by Murdell Earl. Oration on slogan by Mar McGregor. Mc-Gregor. Oration on slogan by Grace Miller. Retold story by Ann Cannon. On Saturday the church stake honor days will be held and the following events will be featured featur-ed by the St. George stake. At 10 o'clock in the taber. nacle, . musical numbers and Gleaner girl and M men orations. ora-tions. The music will include the contests from all the wards in male chorus, ladies' chorus, and, mixed chorus. At the same hour the Bee Hive girls will be holding their activities in the gymnasium. . Dramas will be presented in the Wadworth theater at one o'clock. Three different plays will be given, "Tombs", "In Secret Se-cret Places" and "In the Florist Shop". The dancing contests will be given in the gymnasium at 8:30 and at 9:30 a regular dance will be given. All of the contest events will be free of charge, and people are especially invited to attend. Judges will select the best numbers num-bers in all contests, and these will represent the St. George stake oi the district honor day to be given here next Saturday, April 2 3. At that time Beaver, Parowan, Elon Park, St. George, Moapa and Kanab stakes will be represented. No nius.io contests will be held,, on the district honor day, as the arrangements this year is fori each stake to select 50 of its best singers to go to the Salt Lake City convention in June. There they will be instructed by a national na-tional leader for two days, and at the end of that time a grand concert will be given. |
