Show COMMISSION PROPOSES CUTS IN EXPENSES Reductions of Close to $700 Favored in Three County Offices as Help in Reducing Reduc-ing Deficit in the Budget A proposed reduction of approximately ap-proximately $69 6.29 in the office of-fice . expense " budgets of the county officers was made . Wednesday Wed-nesday at a special meeting of the commissioners. The cuts would be made in the various offices as follow-s: Clerk, $359.59 ;recorder, $200; attorney, attor-ney, $136.70. A request was made by the assessor, Charles Bringhurst, that his budget be increased by $100, and the expense ex-pense of the treasurer was left the same. John T. Woodbury, county clerk, was ordered to notify all county officers that a meeting would be held Ttiesdav. Anril 19, and at that time the reduction reduc-tion proposals be .definitely settled. set-tled. It is the opinion Of the commissioners com-missioners that reductions to this extent might be made without with-out too seriously affecting the efficiency of the offices. The finances fin-ances of the county this year are in a serious condition on account of the large percentage of delinquent taxes. A request was made at the meeting by John H. Schmutz, Walter F. Smith and Ben Swapp for money for advertising the livestock convention to be held at Pine Valley in July. It wras decided that only $75 would be available for advertising this year and divided to give Hurricane Hurri-cane $40 for peach day, and the livestock association 35. |
