Show BEAVER DAMS IMPROVEMENT . PLANETOID Tourist Lodge, Service Station Sta-tion and Cottages Included Includ-ed in Project to Cost Nearly $100,000 It Is Said Negotiations are practically completed com-pleted for the construction of a S95.000 tourist ledge at Beaver Dams Arizona, 39 miles west of St. George on the Los Angeles-Salt Angeles-Salt Lc.ke highway, to be known as the Arizona Strip Big Springs Kc-p:tality Center, by Salt Lake interests. The site was recently purchased from the White Front Service Stations Sta-tions company cf St. George. The project, which is expected to be ready for actual construction construc-tion work before the end of the month, is being handled by the architectural firm of Anderson & Young, H. J. MeKean, Inc.. contractors, and the Relf Hotel corporation, of which George O. Relf is president. The prospectus of the project, made public Tuesday, calls for construction of a ledge, cottages and dormitories, containing 62 guest rooms, lunch counter, col-fee col-fee shop and incidental buildings on a 145 acre ranch which is located lo-cated at the geographical center cf the highway between Salt Lake and Los Angeles. The main lodge, according to the prospectus, will be of mission design, containing a. lobby with a fireplace, a lunch counter and coffee cof-fee shop and fourteen guest rooms, each with bath. On the same side of the highway high-way in connection with the lodge, eight two-room cottages with connecting con-necting bath will- be erected, and eight one-room cottages, each with bath and garage space. Directly across the highway the plans call for the construction of a large service station and two dormitory units, each containing twelve guest rooms. A general site for campers will be provided farther far-ther east. The advantages of the location of the proposed hospitality center are pointed out in the prospectus, which calls attention to the fact that the site is midway between Salt Lake and Los Angeles; that the highway is the only all-year route between the inter-mountain region and California; that tourist travel along the route will increase in-crease yearly, 'because of the completion com-pletion of the new Zion-Mt. C.ir-mel C.ir-mel highway connecting the national na-tional parks in southern Utah ; that the Boulder dam will attract many tourists from eastern centers and that many California tourists will use the highway to the southern south-ern Utah parks who do not contemplate con-template going to Salt Lake, i Financing of the venture is expected ex-pected to be completed in about a week, and actual construction is expected to start soon after. |
