Show ST. GEORGE CCC. CAMP HAVE BIG FIELD DAY For nearly a month, there have been letters written back and forth about the far-famed St. George Field day for the CCC of Southern Utah. The five camps may, can and will have their fun of the 16th of March. Big, beefy, brawny backwoods-inpn backwoods-inpn will dig their toes in. .grunt and pull in a gigantic tugof war, using an inch and a half rope, because in practice pulls, nothing less would stand up against the mighty force of the heavies. The whole thing is free to the residents of St. George and neighboring communities, who are cordially invited to come to the St. George baseball grounds on the morning and afternoon of March 16. The companies that will be represented re-presented are Company 1339, Cedar Ce-dar City, Company 9 62, Bridge Mountain, Company 1966, Zion Park, Company 1928, Veyo and Company 961, St. George. The committee in charge of arrangements ar-rangements consists of the following follow-ing officers: Captain D. L. Harford, Har-ford, chairman; Captain C. M. Kennedy; Captain A. R. Pease; Captain C. B. Whitney and 1st Lieutenant Charles E. Larkin. Lieutenant Larkin states that the local Chamber of Commerce has given the program its official backing and is assisting to make this a long remembered event. A crew of men working on the dykes in the Santa Clara Creek bed about a mile and a half from the Virgin River, recently uncovered uncov-ered an Indian water jug. in an excellent state of preservation. Several other specimens of Indian! clay pottery were unearthed, all nf them, apparantly whole. Some,' however, were cracked, and they have been brought to camp, and an effort is being made to restore them to their former perfection, j |
