Show COURT HOUSE GROUNDS IMPROVED A decided improvement in the appearance of the court house grounds, which have been landscaped land-scaped and planted by Karl E. Fordham, has been noted as the work has progressed, and this will be more pronounced as the growing grow-ing season advances. Favorable comjments are heard every day particularly from travelers, and motorists from practically every state in the union have stopped to take pictures of the grounds. The only original trees left standing are the fig tree and the pomegranate bush w-hich were preserved pre-served as they are typical of this country. First the old trees were dug out, then fence torn down, the ground plowed, scraped and leveled. lev-eled. A sprinkling system including includ-ing 500 feet of underground pipe was laid, after which the ground was prepared and lawn planted. Ten ornamental globe locust trees were planted along the front and east side of the property. Between the newly seeded lawn and the court house on the east a three-footwide three-footwide space has been left for landscaping. An underground pipe has been laid there for sub-irrigating when the shrubs or flowers are planted. |
