Show EDM FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp MERRY CHRISTMAS! The Bingham District Athletic Association wishes everyone a very Merry Xmas, and a New Year full of happinees, good health and better sports for the enjoyment of all. The wish success to our community com-munity and civic programs, to our school activities and all those who participate. Good clean sports have been, and can continue con-tinue to be a great influence in bringing to the world that oft' lepuated expression, most often heard around Xmas time, "Fcace on Earth Good will ta Men."! The BDAA has attempted, in the past six or seven years, to bring -it' members and our community, com-munity, forms of recreational enjoyment en-joyment that could be beneficial to us. We have tried nearly every activity that could possibly be held. Our year round programs have embraced many different aspects of the sports entertainment entertain-ment field. In a broad sense, we have tried to furnisli a bit of relaxation or participation for everyone. Some people like one sport, some would rather watch than play, and others oth-ers would care only to have a bit of fun. Perhaps the major enterprise that has been undertaken is the revival and survival of the grand old pastime baseball. The BDAA has sponsored and tried to furnish our community good bastball in both amateur and semi-professional play. We have attempted to give our young athletes this development and time filling sport, and ntthe same time hoping - to make this venture ven-ture worthwhile. I The history of the BDAA is replete with these varied activities; activi-ties; picture shows, dances, wrest ling and fight cards, broadcasts of major high school athletics, baseball, Softball, 'basketball, turkey and chicken shoots, contributions con-tributions to other fine civic programs, pro-grams, helping equip our young athletes, high school dance revues, re-vues, plays and operas. . If you have enjoyed or derived any small benefit from our efforts, ef-forts, we thank you and everyone every-one for the splendid support we have received from our good sports fans. Turkey and Chicken Shoot It's here again! The popular BDAA Turkey Shoot, open to all members, will be held Saturday and Sunday afternoon, Dec. 20 and 21, at Copperton. The shoot will begin at 2:00 p.m. till dark both days. You must furnish your own gun and ammunition. 22 calibre rifles, with no telescope tele-scope sight, and from standing position. We ask you to get down as early as possible, so everyone may have an opportunity to compete. Prepa Down South Summit The local high school basketball basket-ball squad showed their best form of the pre-season campaign this week by trouncing South Summit 71 to 41 in a return game. This week end the local crew i'ourneys south for games against )tlta and Hickley. The next skirmish on the home floor will be December 30 against Park City. Regular league play will begin January 9, 1953 with the Miners Min-ers playing the Cowboys at Grantsville. ' LOCAL LEAGUE SOON The BDAA hoop league is shaping sha-ping up and we will probably be ready to go just after the first of the New Year. Four teams have signified their entry, and perhaps a few more will want to get in soon. If you have not turned in an entry, please let us know as soon as possible. |
