Tripp of Bingham was elected president of the Jordan District Board of Education. Election of Louis Buchman as vice president and director of Kennecott Copper Corporation, was announced by Charles R. Cox, president. Promotions of five key offic-ials at ' Utah Copper Division, Kennecott Copper Corp. were announced by J. P. Caulfield, Utah Copper Division general manager, as fellows: L. F. Pett from general superintendent of mines to general superintendent of operations with headquarters in Salt Lake City; J. C. Land-enberg- er Jr. from director of la-bor relations to general superin-tendent of mines; V. S. Barlow from assistant mine superintend-ent to mine superintendent; Jo-seph A. Norden, Jr., from assist-ant general drilling and blasting foreman to director of labor re-lations, and James K. Richard-son from industrial engineer for Kennecott's western mining di-visions to assistant to the Utah Copper Division general manag-er in charge of public, industrial and labor relations. Copperton Study Guild cele-brated its 8th anniversary. Mrs. Frank Zaccaria was elect-ed president of Martha Circle. The advancement of S. W. Jac-ques from assistant chief mine accountant to chief mine account-ant, and E. B. McFarlane from employment director to assistant chief mine accountant for Utah Copper Division of, Kennecott Copper Corp. was announced by L. F. Pett, general superintend-ent of mines as was the advance-ment of L. O. Hamlin from stores department clerk to employment director. Married at Alpha Chi Omega sorority house in Logan January 29 were Miss Frances Elaine Fullmer and George LaVon Stok-es of Rockland, Idaho. February 8 Ann Christie, old dau-ghter of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Christie of Butterfield canyon, received notification of her selec-tion to the 1952 Sports Afield (world's largest sportsmen's mag-azine) All America Women's Trapshooting second team and also the All America Junior trap-shooti-team. The Utah Copper Symphony hour featuring the Utah Symph-ony orchestra presented a con-cert in the Bingham high school auditorium Thursday night spon-sored toy Utah Copper Division, Kennecott Copper Corp., in co-operation with the Bingham high school P-T- A and Bingham high school. Four local high school students Roslyn Hansen, Roy Christensen, Alfredo Herrera and Jimmy 'Wilson presented num-bers on the program. February 15 Funeral services were held to-day for Jack Christen Lindseth, 75, of Bingham, better known as "Painter Jack", who died Febru-ary 10 of natural causes. Bingham Women's Civic Club celebrated its 32nd anniversary with a dinner and program held at the Civic Center February 13. Requiem mass for Martin Pe-chin- a, 55, of Highland Boy, who died February 11 in a Salt Lake hospital of cancer was celebrated at Holy Rosary church. Purchase of merchandise and equipment of Chipian Food Store from Anast J, Chipian by C. A. Morley was announced. The new store will be known as Morley's Food Center. Married at Kearns on February 6 were Mildred Hall and Ben jamin F. Tall. Douglas R. Stringfellow, an Ogden raidb announcer and ex-ecutive and a member of the of-fice of strategic service during World War II who was taken prisoner by the Germans and subjected to brutal tortures in Belsen prison, was an inspiring speaker at a meeting' held at Bingham Central school on Feb-ruary 20, sponsored by the Lions Club and Central School P-T-Valentine day nuptials united in marriage two couples Miss Roberta Johnston and John N. Wallace of Salt Lake City; and Miss Patricia Whiteley and Geo-rge E. Gadd, both of Copperton. February 29 Bingham Canyon police force had a new police car, a four door standard Chevrolet sedan equtp-pe- d with heavy duty equipment, to be used in work of the city department. Retirement of George CEarl as chief engineer, Utah Copper Division, Kennecott Copper Corp. and appointment of L. C. Jones to succeed him effective March 1 was announced. ; Bingham district contributions to the 1952 March of Dimes' cam-paign totaled $1,554.01, final tab-ulations submitted by Harold F. Chesler, chairman revealed. Holy Rosary church was the setting February 20 for the nup-tial mass uniting in marriage Miss Patsy Elizabeth Creedon and Sgt. Pete Massa. March 7 Richard H. Willey of Copper-to- n was named chairman of the local Red Cross drive. Mrs. Helen Jane Fry Keysaw, 83, Salt Lake City, formerly of Bingham, passed away December 30, 1951 at her home of causes incident to age. 1952 March of Dimes drive for funds to combat the spread of infantile paralysis got underway this week with Harold Chesler as Bingham district drive chair-man. Miss Barbara J. Mills of Bing-ham and Fern W. Pett of Cop-perton exchanged nuptial vows December 28, 1951 in the Bing-ham Community Methodist church. An early winter wedding cere-mony solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple united in mar riage Miss Lois Cloward and Lowell D. Jensen of Copperton. January 11 Charles J. Fastaband, 75, Bing-ham resident for many years, passed away January 10 after a lingering illness. Fire loss for Bingham in 1951 totaled $2,055. Mrs. Ruth Helen Thornton Palmer, 41, of Coppcrfield, pass-ed away January 9 in a Salt Lake hospital of a heart ailment. Officers to head the Bingham Volunteer Fire Department for 1952 were installed as follows: A. O. Jacobson, president; Ross M. Cushing, vice president; Hos-me- r Peterson, secretary; Joe Ti-mothy, treasurer; John J. Cree-don, chief, and Louis J. Arritola, assistant chief. A total of 84 inches of snow was recorded at the Bingham weather station from the first snowfall in October 1951 to Jan-uary 10, 1952. January 18 Funeral services were held Monday for Alton Pearson, 58, of Copperton who died January 10 in a Salt Lake hospital after a lingering illness. , A skiing party in Dry Fork canyon Sunday, January 13 end-ed in tragedy as Jan Kenyon Norden, nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Norden of Copperton, who was skiing with his parents and a group of friends was buried and suffocated in a snowslide. Mrs. Nora Austin was installed president of Galena Lodge No. 17 auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen & Oquirrh lodge No. 844. January 25 Mrs. Eva Marie Larsen Carpen-tie- r, 55, of Bingham, died in a Salt Lake hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage January 18. 54 members were presented attendance certificates at the an-nual award Sunday held at the Bingham LDS ward on January 20 by Royal V.
