F. Pett from general superintendent of mines to general superintendent of operations with headquarters in Salt Lake City; J. C. Land-enberger Land-enberger Jr. from director of labor la-bor relations to general superintendent superin-tendent of mines; V. S. Barlow from assistant mine superintendent superintend-ent to mine superintendent; Joseph Jo-seph A. Norden, Jr., from assistant assist-ant general drilling and blasting foreman to director of labor relations, re-lations, and James K. Richardson Richard-son from industrial engineer for Kennecott's western mining divisions di-visions to assistant to the Utah Copper Division general manager manag-er in charge of public, industrial and labor relations. Copperton Study Guild celebrated cele-brated its 8th anniversary. Mrs. Frank Zaccaria was elected elect-ed president of Martha Circle. The advancement of S. W. Jacques Jac-ques from assistant chief mine accountant to chief mine accountant, account-ant, and E. B. McFarlane from employment director to assistant chief mine accountant for Utah Copper Division of, Kennecott Copper Corp. was announced by L. F. Pett, general superintendent superintend-ent of mines as was the advancement advance-ment of L. O. Hamlin from stores department clerk to employment director. Married at Alpha Chi Omega sorority house in Logan January 29 were Miss Frances Elaine Fullmer and George LaVon Stokes Stok-es of Rockland, Idaho. February 8 Ann Christie, 15-year old daughter dau-ghter of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Christie of Butterfield canyon, received notification of her selection selec-tion to the 1952 Sports Afield (world's largest sportsmen's magazine) mag-azine) All America Women's Trapshooting second team and also the All America Junior trap-shooting trap-shooting team. The Utah Copper Symphony hour featuring the Utah Symphony Symph-ony orchestra presented a concert con-cert in the Bingham high school auditorium Thursday night sponsored spon-sored toy Utah Copper Division, Kennecott Copper Corp., in cooperation co-operation with the Bingham high school P-TA and Bingham high school. February 15 Funeral services were held today to-day for Jack Christen Lindseth, 75, of Bingham, better known as "Painter Jack", who died February Febru-ary 10 of natural causes. Bingham Women's Civic Club celebrated its 32nd anniversary with a dinner and program held at the Civic Center February 13. Requiem mass for Martin Pe-china, Pe-china, 55, of Highland Boy, who died February 11 in a Salt Lake hospital of cancer was celebrated at Holy Rosary church. Purchase of merchandise and equipment of Chipian Food Store from Anast J, Chipian by C. A. Morley was announced. The new store will be known as Morley's Food Center. Married at Kearns on February 6 were Mildred Hall and Ben jamin F. Tall. Douglas R. Stringfellow, an Ogden raidb announcer and executive ex-ecutive and a member of the office of-fice of strategic service during World War II who was taken prisoner by the Germans and subjected to brutal tortures in Belsen prison, was an inspiring speaker at a meeting' held at Bingham Central school on February Feb-ruary 20, sponsored by the Lions Club and Central School P-TA. Valentine day nuptials united in marriage two couples Miss Roberta Johnston and John N. Wallace of Salt Lake City; and Miss Patricia Whiteley and George Geo-rge E. Gadd, both of Copperton. February 29 Bingham Canyon police force had a new police car, a four door standard Chevrolet sedan equtp-ped equtp-ped with heavy duty equipment, to be used in work of the city department. Fastaband, 75, Bingham Bing-ham resident for many years, passed away January 10 after a ' lingering illness. Fire loss for Bingham in 1951 totaled $2,055. Mrs. Ruth Helen Thornton Palmer, 41, of Coppcrfield, passed pass-ed away January 9 in a Salt Lake hospital of a heart ailment. Officers to head the Bingham Volunteer Fire Department for 1952 were installed as follows: A. O. Jacobson, president; Ross M. Cushing, vice president; Hos-mer Hos-mer Peterson, secretary; Joe Timothy, Ti-mothy, treasurer; John J. Creedon, Cree-don, chief, and Louis J. Arritola, assistant chief. A total of 84 inches of snow was recorded at the Bingham weather station from the first snowfall in October 1951 to January Jan-uary 10, 1952. January 18 Funeral services were held Monday for Alton Pearson, 58, of Copperton who died January 10 in a Salt Lake hospital after a lingering illness. , A skiing party in Dry Fork canyon Sunday, January 13 ended end-ed in tragedy as Jan Kenyon Norden, nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Norden of Copperton, who was skiing with his parents and a group of friends was buried and suffocated in a snowslide. May 23 "We Are Citizens of the World' was the theme of Bingham high school commencement exercises held May 19 in the school auditorium audi-torium for 60 graduating seniors. March 21 Bingham Lions club entertained entertain-ed the entire Bingham high school basketball team, coaching staff, scorers, timekeepers and yell leaders at a banquet at the Civic Center the night of March 19th. Glen Hogan of Hogan Dairy received notification from the National Rifle As'n. that he had broken a national record on August Aug-ust 18 in the registered 30 caliber cali-ber state meet held at Fort Douglas. March 28 A. wV Watson, 63, of Copper-ton Copper-ton died suddenly at his home Tuesday morning, March 25, of coronary occlusion as he was preparing to go to work. Miss Alta Lorraine Thorne of Bingham and GMSN Gene B. Cunliffe of Copperton were married mar-ried March 29 at Baltimore, Md. Bingham high school was host to the annual Jordan District solo and ensemble music festival. Seven junior high and two senior high schools were represented. Mrs. James Carrigan of Copperton Cop-perton was reelected president of the Jordan District P-TA Council. Coun-cil. April 11 formal dedication and open house of the new Lark elementary elemen-tary school was set for April 17. Junior class at Bingham high school held their annual promenade prom-enade April 4 at the CoDDerton Wayne W. Stevenson, manager of the local J. C. Penney Company Com-pany store, announced the formal opening this week of the company's com-pany's golden jubilee. The Bingham Bing-ham Canyon store is today the second oldest operating Penney store, which opened in Bingham in 1904. Mrs. David C. Lyon was elected elect-ed president of the American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary. William DeMarco, 63, resident of Bingham for 40 years, died April 13 at Belluno, Italy, following fol-lowing an operation. Mrs. Harold Sturgill was elected elect-ed president of Bingham Central P-TA for the coming year. Modern, ballet, folk and ballroom ball-room dancing featured the annual an-nual dance revue given by the 'Bingham high school dance class April 25. Grant Pullan was elected president pre-sident of the Bingham high school student body. May 2 90th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, Mexico, was observed by the Sociedad Mutualista Mex-icana, Mex-icana, Miguel Aleman with a program and dance at BCO hall May 5. Ron Boren was elected president presi-dent of Bingham Junior High gymnasium. Leila Johnson was selected queen and Robert Mur-ano Mur-ano king. The theme was "Garden "Gar-den In The Rain". The sudden flash flood which swept across Bingham's Main street just below the Central school the morning of April 8 severely damaged and flooded several homes besides blocking traffic and burying a number of automobiles in mud and debris. April 18 The wedding of Miss Joanne Horrocks of Riverton and Ronald Ron-ald Garth Steel was an event of March 14. Miss Alice Ivie was elected resident of the Gemmell Club adies Bowling league. August Folkman, 54, og Bingham Bing-ham Canyon, died in a Salt Lake hospital Wednesday of natural causes. Hogan Dairy won the USAC of Logan gold medal award for homogenized milk and the bronze award for cottage cheese and buttermilk in recent statewide competition in judging of dairy products. May 9 Installation of air conditioning at the Bingham Branch of the Salt Lake County Library was announced.
