Show RACING NEWS Veteran race car driver Richard Petty won the Michigan 400 mile NASCAR Grand National Sunday at the Michigan International Speedway. Petty, abandoning his usual strategy of hanging back in the field, went all out to beat Darrell Waltrip by a car length to earn the checkered flag and $23,750. Waltrip earned $17,525. France's Jacques Laffite, in a Talbo Ligier Matra V-12, outraced the favored Renault turbos Sunday to win the Austrian Grand Prix, his fifth career victory.
