Show Record is broken at Flaming Gorge A 37-pound mackinaw was caught in the Flaming Gorge Reservoir May 12 by Frank Twitchell of Manila, but it has not been determined if it is a record or not. It has not been determined if Twitchell caught the fish on the Utah or Wyoming side of the reservoir. If the fish was hooked on the Utah side of the border, it would be a record. If it was caught on the Wyoming side of the border, it would miss the state record by nearly three pounds. Twitchell reported catching the mackinaw with a T-50 from flatfish and copper line at Swim Beach near Lucerne Marina. The fish is the largest taken at the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. It measured 4134 inches long and was 29 inches around. The previous record at the gorge was set by Rich Reinwald of Manila at 32 pounds last year. The record mackinaw for Utah is 36 pounds and was taken in 1960 at Fish Lake. |
