No one wants children to eat paint that contains poisonous lead. No one wants to breathe polluted air or use cancer-producing substances. It is also true that no one wants to be caught in a crabgrass explosion to be smothered by regulations that establish rules, but do not remove the lead from paint, do not clean the air, and do not control carcinogenic drugs. It is time that the federal government be required re-quired to apply common sense to its regulatory process and to its tax structure to insure that rules move America forward to a better way of life, to cleaner air, cleaner water, safer products, pro-ducts, but also to increased competitiveness, com-petitiveness, improved productivity and a sound healthy economy. It seems like the Memorial Day weekend holiday is coming early this year. It probably feels this way because of the wet, cool weather we have had this spring. Monday will be a holiday for most businesses. The schools will have a holiday holi-day Monday and then shut down for the year, Friday. At the Express we will remain open Monday and move our deadlines slightly slight-ly ahead to accommodate the latecomers late-comers Tuesday morning. We plan on taking our holiday Friday, May 30 to got ready for the general fishing season opener which falls on the last day of the month this year. |
