The Panthers captured top honors in the 9th grade division with 89 points and Roosevelt finished four points behind Vernal with 85 points. West placed third at 22 points and Duchesne nabbed fourth place with nine points. Tabiona pocketed fifth place with seven points. Julene Johnson, Vernal, captured first place in the 50 meter dash with a time of 6.59 and Roosevelt's Elva Ames placed second at 6.74. Celia Collier, West, nabbed third place at 6.84 and Vernal's Vicki Simper, placed fourth at 6.85. Elva Ames, Roosevelt and Vicki Simper, Vernal, tied for first place in the 100 meter dash with times of 12.75. Julene Johnson nabbed second place at 12.99 and Shelly Dye, Roosevelt and Celia Collier, West, tied for third place at 13.00. Vernal's Julene Johnson pocketed first place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.88 and Celia Collier, West, placed second at 31.18. Shari Yardley, Roosevelt, nabbed third place with a time of 31.49. Shari Yardley of Roosevelt netted first place honors in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:13.35 and Michelle Swim of Vernal placed second at 1:14.46. Shiela Givens, Vernal nabbed third place at 1:14.82. Vernal's Michelle Green earned first place honors in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:47.15 and Beveraly Mor-tensen, Mor-tensen, Roosevelt, placed second at 2:45.20. R. Goodrich, Vernal, pocketed' second at 7:40.53. J. Defa, Tabiona, netted third place with a time of 7 : 53.28. Roosevelt captured first places in the 200 meter shuttle, 28.90 and in the 440 relay, 56.80. Vernal placed second in the shuttle with a time of 29.33 and West placed third at 30.73. Vernal netted second place in the 440 relay at 57.39 and West netted third place at 1:00.73. Sharene Mower, Roosevelt, nabbed first place in the high jump with a leap of 4'7" and Brenda Johnson, Roosevelt, placed second at 4'6". Debbie Bowden, Roosevelt, placed third at 4'4".
