Show The education triangle In the early century our country witnessed the growth of the infamous triangular trade which involved commerce commerce commerce com com- merce between America Great Britain and Africa This trade saw slaves being brought to America in exchange for rum and maritime products From here the rum and other products went to Great Britain in exchange for manufactured goods Then the triangle was complete as manufactured goods rotated to Africa for slaves Economically it became a very solvent en en- Recently I have been giving serious consideration to those things which provide success in later life for a young person I too have ascertained that there may be a triangle in education as well Lets Let's refer to this view as the Triangular Societal Foundation for Success for our youngsters At the pivot point of this triangle comes first and foremost the family Extending Extending Extending Ex Ex- Ex- Ex tending the line we come to the second point the church in in- fluence Finally by following this line one step further we close upon the third point the states state's Influence which generally concerns education Each of these points of our triangle revolve and generate momentum from the other two If IT either of the points are weak it will tend to make the other two weak likewise The HOME is the place where the young person spends the majority of his time during the formative years During this time the young person either develops or rejects manners discipline attitudes altitudes etc The attitudes which a young person brings to church or school are generally the result of his home background and the work and effort of his loving parents Love and respect are keys to toi i making king this first point productive Once a child begins to go to church or to school the home still occupies a key role It is here encouragement or frustration will emerge in a achild's achild's achild's childs child's life It is still here that difficult assignments must be encountered and either accepted accepted accepted ac ac- ac- ac as important or passed off as not necessary or even worse passed off by parents too busy to help Problems of financial insecurity divorce immaturity alcoholism etc may all bring psychological concerns which will permeate the childs child's makeup and which the church or school will have tremendous restrictions in overcoming A society which blames its problems on the school or church needs to take a closer look at the caliber of the home Nothing makes up for failure in the home in a young persons person's life liCe Then there is the church our number two pivot point I am amnot amnot amnot not addressing myself to any particular denomination but rather to those groups who sincerely believe in a supreme being and the ways to honor him A child with religious instruction early in life liCe and which continues throughout his life liCe has far less problems in his life and also with dealing with the first point the home and the second point the school or state The church influence and teachings of practically every sect I know brings about the societal best in young people and adults as well I am here talking about the active church participant not the professed inactive member of any congregation Inactivity in church affairs often has a redundancy upon the other two points There is an old axiom A family that prays together stays together Finally the third pivot point emerges but only after the other two points have had several years head start It must pick pickup pickup pickup up where the other two have either succeeded succeeded- ded 4 t fa failed led Now the childs child's importance in society really becomes meaningful He becomes a total person where others need his influence Now some important tools of education are provided ie i.e. reading writing computational computational computational com com- mathematics sportsmanship interrelationship interrelationship interrelationship in- in with peers etc With the final ingredient being provi provided ed the child chuo should hav havethe have have- the tiie LOuis he needs to succeed The tools he needs to make a success of himself and now to address himself to another large task that of seeking a partner in marriage and raising a family of his own By raising this family in the proper way we find ourselves back to the beginning of the societal triangle The home church and school all need each other to provide a positive success pattern for our young people If one fails most often the others do also |
