G Spencer Dip your own candles One of the most delightful experiences of being involved Inthe in inthe the craft industry is leaching teaching really exciting new ideas to folks who then are able to use the knowledge to lo beautify their worlds Such an enjoyable class was held Friday with 18 Vernal and Roosevelt women making a dipped and carved candle that wed we'd learned to do at one of the endless workshops were we're attending attending at at- tending TO DO no the dipped candle two types of wax are used a core candle of premium candle wax and then Ihen 21 various baths of taper laper dipping wax We used a point 5 star mold for our core candles as this gives a beautiful finished candle plus a small enough area for beginners to be able to completely carve before the waxes cool and can ean no longer be worked Begin by holding the core candle in the degIe wax for to warm lore warm re-warm it Th Then n for instance dip it and cool it in ina ina ina a cold water dip seven times limes in ina a given color switch to the next color repeating repealing the dip-bath dip sequence seven times Complete the dipping with a third or original color sequence The trick is in doing it quickly and wiping water from the dipped candle each time PLACE ILACE TILE THE dipped candle on a turn table after trimming off the dipping beard and proceed to carve all sorts of twists swirls curls etc to create a totally unique carved candle Were We're sure that you will be seeing lots of these beauties from the Young Mothers program Relief Societies and homemakers and thanks again for letting us teach leach something really fun |
