Show 0 0 I Y Voice oI i of r S i m i t Eighteen senior citizens had a lovely trip to Colorado on September 22 and 23 Lena Mast reported We left Vernal at 8 am a.m. and drove to Rangely and followed the White River to Meeker Then went south and east to Glenwood Springs After obtaining motel rooms we tra traveled on up the Roaring Fork Valley to Carbondale then up the beautiful canyon south of there to Redstone and Marble Colorado This drive was so beautiful with the gold and red foliage on the high mountains Inthe in inthe inthe the background There is some beautiful white marble on the mountains that sometimes breaks loose and slides down to the river in the spring We each got a piece of this to bring home with us Later in the afternoon we came back to Glenwood Springs to our rooms Some of the Senior Citizens went swimming in the hot water sulphur springs pool while the rest of us wat wat- ched We discovered that we had some mermaids with us as they went swimming again that r night in the motel pool It was lightning thundering and raining on them but they stayed in the pool and waited for the motel owner to turn out the lights I dont don't know how late they were in the pool but they were there eyed bright-eyed and tailed bushy-tailed ready to go up to Aspen at 8 am a.m. the next mor mol ning The scenery was sure something to see with the green pines yellow and andred red foliage of the aspens against the background of white snow on the higher mountains Everyone was fascinated with a little lilUe church building so we turned off on a narrow side road to get a picture of it While driving on up this road for several miles looking for a place to turn around we came upon a small music school I Iwas Iwas Iwas was so glad we had to go a long longway longway longway way to turn around because I have never seen a more beautiful view than we saw there of the mountains Some of the towns we passed through on our our way home were Basalt Glenwood Springs Silt New Castle and Rifle Nineteen miles north of Rifle at Rio Blanco we turned west to come up Creek The word is a Ute Indian word ord meaning tall grass This area has many beautiful ranches which have both sheep and cattle Also there are many natural gas wells Edgar Jones was especially interested in this area because he has owned a ranch there in days past Edgar was able to add many inter interesting sting bits of information about this whole area Edgar and Amanda are very nice people to go on a trip with and we really appreciate them Also our deep appreciation appreciation appreciation ap ap- ap- ap is extended to our bus driver Ralph Southam and his wife Nellie Ralph is really a safe driver in spite of the many back seat scat drivers that are helping him each time It is too bad there arent aren't more senior citizens taking advantage of these trips All it costs you is mileage room and food The tentative bus trip scheduled for 1978 is Disneyland Table games were played on Tuesday September 27 n at pm p.m. Winner WIMer of the week was Della Delia Chivers Cook with four games Champions for the month of September were Rosalie Burton and Mrs Cook All the Senior Citizens were welcomed to the Vernal Jr High lUgh School for lunch on Wednesday September 28 at 1 pm p.m. by Charyl Charles Lewis gave the prayer A choice of either meat loaf or beef stew was offered Charyl gave a report on her fathers father's health Ralph Sid is still in St. St Marks Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City He Is better following a gall bladder operation on Saturday September Sep Sep- 24 This was complicated com come by gangrene and pneumonia His temperature Is Isnow isnow isnow now down and he is feeling much better Everyone was entertained by two games These were called Get Acquainted With Yourself Yourself Yourself Your Your- self and Cross Country Trip Through Utah After reading the clues given about the parts of a person and the different places in Utah most of us found we needed to do further study on both of these subjects before we could receive a passing grade Menus for each Wednesday in October are October 5 5 Slice Slice of turkey roll with potatoes and gave the prayer A review of the bus trip to Carbondale Colorado was read by Norma Damon Charles Lewis led the group in singing Happy Birthday to Hazel Long A commendation was given to Paul Murray for
