Show BASEBALL PLAYGROUND by DolMar Schick The smack of a bat against a baseball is a familiar sound on the summer playground as some 250 boys were registered for summer baseball activities. These boys' ages vary from 5 to 16. They are divided into four different dif-ferent leagues, Popsicle, Peewee, Junior and Senior Leagues. Seventeen Sev-enteen teams have been organized organiz-ed with an average of 12 boys per team. We have four teams In the Popsicle League the Small Fries, the Bingham Birds, the Eagles and the Stars. This league lea-gue is for the boys that are just beginning baseball Eloy Vigil, Carl Miya, Rubin Lugo, Dennis Nichols, Phil Kastelic, Johnny Jenkins, Dale Anderson, Jeff English and Bobby Hennings are some of the top notchers of this league. In the Peewee League we have six teams the Bingham Cardinals, Card-inals, Copperton Firecrackers, Redskins, Bingham, Utes and the Copperfield Tigers. These boys are mostly under 11 years of age and are becoming very fine ball players. LeRoy Ivie, Arthur Fullmer, Harold Susaeta, Jimmy Lovat, Richard McMullin, Kenny Pierce, Johnny Johnson, Harold Jenkins, George Sluga, Harry Pappasideris, Ernest Davies, Russell Boulton, Ronnie and Donnie Markovich are all playing play-ing excellent ball to keep their teams on the winning side. . In the Junior League we have four teams the Pirates, the Demons, De-mons, the Aces and Copperton. By this stage of the game the boys are becoming refined ball players. Joe Costello, Rudy Gonzales, Gon-zales, Louie Susaeta, Dallas Hak-anson, Hak-anson, Kent Allsop, George Re-koutis, Re-koutis, Mike Johnson, Tommy Watson, Rodney Johnson, Mike Warner, Morris Colyar, Joe Rosa, ""' Emerson Vigil and Archie Bena-videz Bena-videz are some of the standouts of this league. In the Senior League we have three teams Bingham, Bingham Yanks and the Copperton Niggers. Nig-gers. These boys will soon be our American Legion and high school stars. Such boys as Larry Johnson, John-son, Eddie Muhar, Larry Still-man, Still-man, Norman Chesler, Ronnie Boren, Larry Sax, Layne Caldwell, Cald-well, Dickie Susaeta, Jimmy Wilson, Wil-son, Louie Sarrao and David Cunliffe are really top notch ball players. During the year all of our teams will play teams from Murray, Mur-ray, Granite, Jordan, Midvale and Magna. We would like to invite everyone every-one to our playground and I'm sure It would be well worth your while to see these boys in action. |
