Show SUMMER FESTIVAL SCHEDULED SOON Salt Lake City Mail orders are being . accepted for choice seats for the University of Utah's annual summer festival productions, produc-tions, "Kiss Me, Kate" and "Samson and Delilah," which are scheduled under the stars in Stadium Sta-dium Bowl next month. Festival manager Gail Plum-mer Plum-mer said showgoers could save one-third by buying tickets for both shows. Tickets may be selected se-lected in any combination of dates dat-es in any price range, he pointed out. "Kiss Me, Kate", Cole Porter's lively musical comedy based on Shakespeare's "The Taming . of the Shrew", is scheduled July 7 through 12. "Samson and Delilah", De-lilah", Camille Saint-Saen's operatic op-eratic masterwork, will be performed per-formed July 17 through 19. Those who act early will get the best seats in the house for the performances of some of the nation's most glamorous stars. Patricia Morison, lovely singing star of movies and the legitimate theater, played "Kate" in the original production of the musical mu-sical on Broadway three years ago and will play the same role in the festival. Jon Geyans, sensational sen-sational bass-baritone of the New York City Opera Co. and of Broadway hits, has the male lead. - Lloyd Thomas Leech and Clara mae Turner, rising young stars of opera and concert, have been engaged for the title roles in the opera. Festival principal dancers are Sally Bailey, the prima ballerina of the San Francisco Opera Co., and Rudy Tone, new dancing star of television who danced in the original "Kate" production. |
