Show DIED. Oram. - In this city, Dec. (December) 16th, 1880, of diphtheria, Elsie Priscilla, daughter of G. L. and Margerita Oram, aged 2 years, 7 months and twenty days. Noble. - At Smithfield, Cache Co. (County), Utah, on Sunday, Dec. (December) 12, 1880 of spinal abscess, William Aquilla Noble. Deceased was the son of William Goodwin and Mary Ann Harper Noble; was born in Irchester, Northamptonshire, England, on the 4th of May, 1811; was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in his boyhood, his father being engaged in the ministry as a traveling elder in England at the time. Emigrated from Birmingham conference in 1860 with his father's family. Arriving in New York they found they had not sufficient means to bring the whole family through, and he and two sisters continued their journey, arriving in Smithfield, Utah, in the fall of the same year, where he has constantly resided up to his death. He was rebaptized and ordained an elder at Smithfield, in June 1861, and was ordained into the 64th quorum of Seventies in 1876, was a faithful and efficient laborer for the welfare of the ward in which he lived, being for many years leader of the choir, which position he resigned previous to his death on account of sickness. He also labored for a number of years as superintendent of the Sabbath school, which position he held at his death. He also held several other offices, religious and civil, and at his death was city recorder and precinct justice of the peace. |
