Show UTAH HAS " THE GOODS Her Resources Are Varied. And Unlimited. Utah has everything heces-sar heces-sar to become a great manufac-. turing state. She lias mountains mount-ains upon mountains of coal. They are within easy reach of Salt Lake and the other larger cities of the state. Utah ha3-tons ha3-tons and tons of raw materials of many kinds. It would be possible to manufacture in Utah finished products of all kinds. Instead of being a Com mon wealth that buvs everything every-thing from the east, Utah ought to be in the manufacturing bus iness. Instead of importing all manufactured articles, as we do, sending the morie'- out of the state to make prosperous times elsewhere, these articles should be made here, enough for home consumption, and much more; in fact, enough to ship all over the world, thus getting the purchase price of these goods flowing into Utah. That condition is possible, it is inevitable if the price of fuel in Utah is brought to the place where it can be bought and used in great factories and workshops. With so much fnet at our very doors, brought to Salt Lake and other communities commun-ities in the state at a reason-' able price manufacturing plants will spring up throughout the state. Instead of being a debtor debt-or state, we will . become a creditor state. Instead of sending send-ing money from the state for everything we need in the manufacturing line, our Own money will be kept at home, and we will sell our goods all over the nation and all over the world. Instead of families leaving Salt Lake 'by. the scores because the bread-winner can find no employment, we will find homeseekers coming here by the scores and hundreds to work in these factories. In stead of steadily increasing tax es, there will be a reduction, because Utah will become a commonwealth that will need levy taxes only upon great industries, in-dustries, etc., as is the case in many eastern states, where a state property tax is unknown. All these things are possible when the coal trust is dissolved. And the dissolution of the coal trust is a foregone conclusion. The people of Utah are arous ed, and the' mean business'. This movement tp not going to stop until its ooject Mis'-beet! accomplished: Cheaper fuel, and the absolute dissolution of the coal trust, Herald-Republican. |
