Show water duringtheyear 1911. The South Myton Pencil Irrigation District (homesteads), comprises compris-es approximately 16,C00 acres. The land we are seeking under the Carey act is approximately 43,000 acres. We are very desirous of an early segregation so as to arrange ar-range for the coming season. We have been handicapped in getting the said segregation for the reason that the lands in question were unsurveyed gov eminent lands. The government govern-ment let a contract to T. A. Roberts of your city in the summer of 1909 and he finished the survey in July 1910. The government inspector did not come in. to inspect the said survey sur-vey until September. He finished fin-ished this work about two weeks ago and the report, is now in the Surveyor General's office of your city. Mr. Miller was the inspector of Roberts' work. j If I have omitted anything in particular that you are desirous of knowing, kindly write me, or see Mr. Ii). W. Senior of your city. I expect to be in Salt Lake in the near ifuture and will then see you in person. Very respectfully yours, . F. II. Lott." LOTT FILES : STATEMENT Makes Sworn Report to the State Land Board. Iu compliance with a request from Win. J. Lynch, secretary of the state board of laud commissioners, com-missioners, as to what his intentions in-tentions were concerning the Lott ditch project, what had been done up to the present time and the amount of money expended, Mr. Lott ha? I led the following sworn statement with the board: "Myton, Utah, December fith, 1910 Xl iv W ui . J . Ly n c h , Secretary State Board of Land Commissioners, Salt Lake Citv, Utah. t pear Sir: Yours of the 1st inst. at hand, and while I scarcely fcnow just what information you want I will in a brief way give most of it to you in detail. IiU February, 1910, I purchased purchas-ed back the interest of Win. IL Smart, J. P. Smith and George C. Jones, on May 1st, I took up the engineering work where we left off on December 3rd, 1909, changing the engineering chief from A. M. Todd to Ed F. Harmston, who is now chief engineer. From May 1st this year until this fall I have run three engineering crews in charge of Ed F. Harmston, C. E., Joe Helm, C. F. and Craig Harmston, C. E. These engineering engin-eering corps comprise twenty-two twenty-two to twenty-eight men. In j July after completing what we term our lower survey, I began a line three miles farther up the river, gaining an elevation of ninety feet, and find a much better line for construction than the lower one. This line has been run and we are finishing now the permanent, location of the ditch line on this survey. The' lower line was approximately approxim-ately fifty-one miles in length, and we encountered some very heavy work comprising three tunnels aggregating nearly one mie in length, many heavy cuts, more than twenty mi'es of side hill w.rk, much heavy rock work, and probably too expensive at this time. 1 The high line, the one we 1 have adopted, and the one we have commenced actual construction con-struction work on is a more feasible route and less expensive expens-ive to build. Mr. Harmston is till in the field and will complete com-plete the permanent location ttork in about two weeks more. On the first of November I Put a force of twenty-two men al teams to work and kept m there until bad weather 'l'Jiere has been between nine-,eti nine-,eti and twenty thousand dolors' dol-ors' spent upon this project. This, amount does not include an)" salaries or any other expenses ex-penses except for engineering vices and work, survevs and Reconstruction work that was jrie in November. ' Messrs. E. F. and V. J. Madden are my associates in I11 project. We are only wait-'"Sforthe wait-'"Sforthe segregation of the arey act land in question and il le same is granted us this Writer we will put a big force Q the early spring and also contracts for building a por- of this ditch.
