Show TRUTHS. I Dr. Bowers, Judge Zanc, W. F lH James and Frank II. Hewlett arc all iH talked of as candidates for the re- H publican mayoralty nomination. lH 11 It is said that since the flight of iH the "spiritualists," Arnold & Dickson, jJH Councilman Black is at a loss for a H political guide and adviser. Arnold IH & Dickson were responsible for Mr. H Black joining the "American" party. tjH They predicted that Mr. Black's own II interests would be better served by (H his becoming an "American" than if H he remained a republican and Mr 'H Black took their advice. H M It's somewhat amusing to read the H prattle of the Tribune and Herald ;H and the shedding of crocodile tears :H over the mistake it would be to break H party lines in the coming election, in H view of the fact that those newspap- H ers will be the cause of whatever H breaking of parly lines may occur H The Tribune especially has destroyed H party lines as far as it was able to iH destroy them and is still seeking to H utterly obliterate them in this state. H The program of the "American" l party, it has been pretty well demon- IH stratcd, is to tic the hands of all the H city officials from the mayor down H in case it should succeed in electing ;H its candidates and deliver them bnund H and gagged to the city committee to IH do what it will with them. The per- (H sonncl of the "American" city com- H mittec is hardly such as the average jH citizen would feel safe in entrusting "-tviM with the destinies of the city. Among (it I others of that committee arc Joseph jlH R. Morris and Herman Bamberger. J,l Wonder if they think there is another U City and County building to be lur- El nished. II |
