Everyone who hopes to be ir healthy, wealthy and wise and to at- W9 tain to a ripe old age must give at K least eight hours regularly out of'thc Hfc twenty-four to rest. In the light of 111 this truth it mu follow that the mat- B'i tress business 1 kes its place in the HI scale of importance to the comfort and Hfff happiness of the human family along H. with that of the butcher and baker. Wit Who docs not love to get into a soft, W comfortable bed and float off into IjF dreams of bliss, leaving behind all III thoughts of the stress and strife, the jk - cares and responsibilities of our stren- HjIkL! nous life of today? Engaged in this line of business, ministering not only to the needs and wants of the people of Salt Lake City, making the plans and supervising the States of Utah, Nevada and Idaho, is THE SALT LAKE MATTRESS AND MANUFACTURING COMPANY, COM-PANY, one of the most enterprising manufacturing institutions of the city. This business was incorporated something over two years ago, the conttol of the stock being held by Mr. Frederick Eberhardt, who is pies-ident pies-ident and manager, and by his son, Alex E. Eberhardt, secretary and treasurer of the company. The business busi-ness was founded by Mr F Eber- hardl, who formerly operated a mattress mat-tress factory in Salina, Kan., coming to this city seventeen years ago. He began business here first under the name of the Salt Lake Wire Mattress company, which after continuing several sev-eral years, he sold out to other par-tics. par-tics. Beginning again in the spring of 1901 under the present name, Mr Eberhardt has seen the enterprise gradually grow under his careful and conservative management to a point where it demands for its continued expansion and development a larger base of operations than it has hitherto known. Accordingly, Mr. Eberhardt was recently very fortunate in securing secur-ing one of the best manufacturing sites in the city at No. 535 West Third South street, just a half block west of the new R. G. W. passenger depot. Upon this ground has just been erected the fine three-story building shown in the accompanying cut. The first floor or basement has an excellent cement floor and concrete con-crete walls, the rest of the structure being of brick. The main portion of the building is 50x100 ft in size, llead-lund llead-lund & Wood were the architects making the plans and supervisiny the construction. The plant, which for over two years has been operated at No. 158 West First South street, has just been transferred and installed in this new home of the concern. Additional ivew machinery is on the way here, and within a short time Salt Lake City can boast of the finest mattress factory in the West. The product of the factory consists of mattresses of all kinds, including hair, moss, clastic cotton felt, kapok or silk floss, cotton, wool and excelsior, excel-sior, etc., as well as the best types of woven wire and coil springs. Feather pillows and steel couches arc also handled. In the upholstery department a specialty spe-cialty is made of box mattresses, box couches and cushions of all kinds. This department is under the able direction di-rection of Mr. A. Isom, generally recognized re-cognized as one of the best upholsterers uphol-sterers in the country. A large assortment assort-ment of fine upholstery covered goods is always kept on hand, samples of ? which are shown in any of the homes of the city on request, and estimates given on the reupholstcring and recovering re-covering of parlor furniture, this being be-ing a very important part of the work of the upholstery department and another an-other feature of the business of general gen-eral interest is the repairing of springs and the remaking and renovating of mattresses which the company is prepared pre-pared to take care of on short notice. The quality of all material used in the manufacture of- the several pio- h ducts of the factory, as well as the skill of wor'.. anship employed, is always al-ways kep j the highest standard possible, and the constantly increasing demands for the Salt Lake Mattress and Mam-'--Hiring company's goods ij is a strong indication that they are the hest on the m;,ket. |
