For years the 1 school has received applications from a greater number of students than could be taken care of and the lack of funds with which to provide addi- tional room has greatly hindered pro gress. Last year, however, the friends of the institution, Recognizing the need, raised the money needed to erect a new dormitory and make .tonic ' improvements on the main building and grounds. The new building and these improvements arc now Hearing completion and the academy enters I upon its thirtieth year with brighter ! prospects than ever before in its his tory. The new building is a girl's dormi- ' tory, 38 by 64 feet, The rooms are large, and will be furnished comfort- r ably. A cemented basement the full I length and width of the building con tains a spacious dining room, kitchen, laundry with stationary tubs, and boiler room. In the structure are j toilets, bath-rooms, and lavatories and the entire building is heated by steam and lighted by electricity , Evc-y modern convenience that mon ey will buy has been installed, and twhen the grounds arc finally in the condition contemplated the dormi'.ory will be worthy of comparison with any j other in Utah. While the dormitory supplies a grea: need it serves another purpose in permitting certain desired changes h in the main building. The removal j of the kitchen and dining room to the . other building makes room for a la boratory, a fine library and reading room, and, where closets have occupied occu-pied room on the third floor, a bathroom bath-room and toilet will be installed, Steam heating apparatus is to be put into the building also. These improvements im-provements will add much to the pleasure of all concerned and serve to place the school's equipment on a more satisfactory basis. The New Jersey Academy offers work in all the grades and three years '? of high school work. There is, in ad dition, a department of music, and mis year there will be some instruction in physical culture. The teaching force includes a principal and six assistants, all men and women of character, re finement, culture and thorough capability |
