Show TO THE EDITOR Dear Mr. Taylor: To say the least, I was a little disappointed in the article ar-ticle that was in the Times Independent last week; about Mrs. Helen Madsen and her group of 13 boys and girls that went to Denver. All we hear and read any more is Promote Tourist Bus iness in Moab, yet when this group was asked to participate partici-pate in a presentation, which included colored slides of this area, not even the names, let alone a picture, of the " boys and girls was in the paper. No one will realize the hours it took Mrs. Madsen and the boys and girls to put this program together or the work involved. the opportunity of working These boys and girls had with a man that is known all over the world in education, and they feel it a great honor hon-or to have been chosen as one of four groups to receive this grant, let alone work with Dr. Lawrence Senesh. Dr. Senesh mentioned Friday Fri-day most grants go to the large cities because most people feel the small town just doesn't have what it takes. So I feel this group brought honors to our whole town in the educational world as well as did the town a favor in promoting tourist business. As a youth put it, not too long ago, "Do we have to do something wrong or get into trouble to get our names in the paper or support from the adults?" My thanks esp. to Mrs. Madsen, Mr. Wimmer and all others involved in giving this opportunity to those boys and girls. Roberta Knutson |
