The utility ill make cash payments pay-ments to the Emery County Water Con servancy District, which has a repayment contract with the Government for construction costs of the Project. On November 7. 1972, an election was held in the Emery County Water Conservancy 'District which resulted in a 3 to 1 vote in favor of amending the repayment contract. In signing the contract, Commissioner A r m -strong said this transfer of water reflects the growing importance of water for industrial purposes pur-poses in the Bureau's program. He added that it will assist Emerv County taxpayers in paying pay-ing for the reclamation project while still leaving leav-ing farmers ample water for irrigation. The project pro-ject delivers 2S.100 acre-feet of water in an average year of which .100 acre-feet will be used by the Huntington-Cleveland Huntington-Cleveland and Cottonwood Cotton-wood Creek Consolidated Irrigation Companies. During the ceremony. Mr. Anderson presented Mr. Johansen with checks totaling $36,600 that represent initial payment upon execution of the contract and the ""I'l.v'.s share of this year's operating ami '"'iiiiteiiame cost of the P'ojeet. In addition, Utah Power & Light will pay Us proportional share of operating and maintenance costs of the project. The Kmery County Project is being financed by the sale of water, the other multipurpose aspects as-pects of the project, ad valorem taxes within the water conservancy district, dis-trict, and power reve nues from the Colorado River Storage Project. The sale of water for ndustrial use adds a fifth source of payment for the project. Four documents will e signed during the ceremony. ce-remony. They provide for modification of the existing repayment contract con-tract between the United States and the District increasing the repayment repay-ment obligation by $4, 400,000, amendment to the contracts between the District and Huntington- Cleveland Irrigation Co. and Cottonwood Creek Consolidated Irrigation Comapny, a three-way contract between the Power Po-wer Company, the District, Dis-trict, and -the United Slates ; for (he sale of M & I water. |
