Show Employment Gains Shown By Report Offices of the Utah Department De-partment of Employment Security received 62 more job openings during the- week ending Nov. 11 than for the previous week. While this was not a large gain, it is noteworthy note-worthy because normally the number of job offers declines from week to week during November, according to Manly B. Lincoln manager of the Moab Employment Security Se-curity office. At 1,420 the number of job offers is within 100 of the average received re-ceived during the August to October period when seasonal factors tend to step up the tempo of the economy rather than slacken its pace. Current strength of the Utah job market is seen in the continuing brisk demand for workers. During September and October the department i reported over-the-year gains of about 23,000 non-agricultural wage and salaried jobs, it would appear this substantial sub-stantial year over gain is continuing in November, Novem-ber, Mr. Lincoln said. At the same time activities ac-tivities affected by seasonal sea-sonal events are experiencing experi-encing normal downturns and unemployment insurance insu-rance figures are moving mov-ing upward accordingly. The number of continued claims totaled 8,121 compared to 7,545 a week ago. All offices but one reported increases for the week. The level of continued claims was about 1,200 under the comparable week a year ago. Unemployment in San Juan and Grand Counties this week was 26 per thousand; last week 23 per thousand; 1 year ago 30 per thousand. 44 vteekly claims were filed through the Moab office. |
