Show Service to the Handicapped Now Available in S. E. Utah "A new service is now available for the handicapped and their parents in Grand, Carbon, Emery and San Juan Counties," according to Dr. Robert N. Hanson, director of the Southeastern Educational Service Center. This new program, Direction Direct-ion Service, offers free help to the handicapped between three and twenty-one-years old. "The people in the Direction Service offices will have information on all available avail-able resources for the handicapped, handi-capped, both public and private," Hanson said. Handicapped persons or their parents who live in Grand, Carbon and Emery Counties will be served by Nohl Sandall. His number is Price, 637-1173. Persons outside out-side the calling area are invited to call collect. San Juan residents will be served by MacArthur Norton and Herbert Johnson in Blanding. Their office is in the trailer on the hill behind the high school, next door to the junior high school. The telephone tele-phone number is 678-2281. Collect calls will be accepted. Hanson said that the Direction Direc-tion Service'workers from both offices are available to go to client's homes if transportation transporta-tion is a problem for the handicapped person or the parents. "All information is treated with strictest confidentiality," Hanson said. "Direction Service Ser-vice provides the means to coordinate all services to the handicapped, such as educational educa-tional services, mental health, vocational rehabilitation, and other services required by the client and his or her parents." Hanson noted that a joint Education - Social Services Committee is operating at the state level, and also at the regional level, consisting of the agency heads for the f0Ut counties.
