Show Red Devils Face Two Big Games This Week Region Seven football really turns on the steam this week with most teams trying to crowd two games in the hectic league schedule. For the Moab Devils it means games Wednesday night at North Sanpete and home again for Emery on Saturday. Both games are 8 p.m. affairs so local fans can take them in and many are expected to do so. North Sanpete at Mount Pleasant hadn't lost until last Friday when they bowed to a Millard Eagle club that is assuming a favorite role in the Region. The Red Devils are proving to be an exciting and explosive club with three straight victories including a waltz over San Juan last week by 40-6. Coach Richeson's big worry is that two games in four days might take a toll on a club that is not deep at all. The Saturday game brings the Spartans of Emery to Moab. Emery victimized San Juan so the teams have had a common opponent. Still, nothing is going entirely as expected in the region this year. State champ Delta had another squeaker this week beating Richfield in the final 34 seconds 21-14. Delta will be Moab's Homecoming opponent this year. Whoever has the hot hand on a given night seems to be the team to beat that particular day and region coaches are hesitant about giving anything out either optomistic or pessimistic. Five teams make the state playoffs this year from this region alone so every game looms large. Look for teams like South Sevier (0-3) to be among them. The Rams have played Moab, Delta and Millard and that's a tough start. For Moab victory is essential for a chance at the Region Title after an opening upset loss to Hurricane, newest member of the league. |
