Show Sand Safari . . . CUB SCOUTS for Green River and Moab combined for a sand safari on Saturday March 17 at Whitewash Sand Dunes near the Ruby Ranch. 103 scouts attended. The Safari opened at 10:30 a.m. with a short class on 'survival which was followed by group competitions. The tug of war was a great success, with Green River coming out on top; the sack race was won by Jerry Heath; the obstacle course was set up with Ray Sherrill coming in first place. The dens then raced a sand chariot made of short pieces of 1 x 18 board with a rope handle for five boys to pull one boy over a course set up over and around the dunes. Green River came in first again After competitions, lunches were eaten and ice cream bars Passed around Doug Bradley, District Cub Scout advisor, presented 1st and 2nd piace ribbons and a special ribbon for conduct and appearance. |
