Show Cooperation Was Goal of Law Enforcement Meeting City and County officials; members of the judiciary and law enforcement people from Moab City, Grand County and the State of Utah, held a three hour meeting Tuesday evening even-ing In Moab In an attempt to come to grips with law enforcement en-forcement problems which have plagued the community the past several months. According to Moab Mayor Wm. Dean McDouglad, who conducted the meeting along with County Commission Chairman D. L. Taylor, those in attendance included the Grand County Sheriffs Department, the Moab City Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol Officers; City and County Attorneys, District Juvenile Judge, Adult Ad-ult Parole and Probation officials, of-ficials, the City Judge, and a number of others. A number of law enforcement enforce-ment problems were discussed discus-sed and opinions offered on such subjects as arrest, trial, conviction, and sentencing sen-tencing procedures Involving Involv-ing both Juveniles and adull offenders, the Mayor said, "We hope to make thli the first of a series of quar- terly meetings scheduled In an attempt, to gain uniform action and cooperation which will lead to better law enforcement," en-forcement," Mayor McDou-gald McDou-gald said. He stated that he was extremely pleased with : the first meeting, and felt It would be very helpful In dealing with community pro- blems. |
