Show Friendship Cruise Tops Busy Week in Southeastern Utah This weekend will see the 15th Annual running of the Friendship Cruise down the Green and up the Colorado Rivers. The event is sponsored spon-sored annually by the Canyon Country River Marathon Association. As-sociation. The river trip for pleasure boaters begins at the Green River State Park on Saturday and boats will be registered until noon. The fee is $25 and includes launching and docking, dock-ing, gas services at strategic points, search and rescue services over the 183-mile run, ferrying cars and trailers trail-ers from Green River to Moab, Mo-ab, emergency communications communica-tions systems, a feast in Moab at the end of the run and entertainment at Anderson Ander-son Bottom on Saturday night. Much of the trip runs through Canyonlands National Nation-al Park past Indian ruins, magnificent scenery and challenging chal-lenging river currents. A new color brochure and map which details the entire cruise, and indicates special points of interest will be provided for each boat. On Saturday night, the Moab Jaycees will prepare a steak fry at Anderson An-derson Bottom for $3.50 per plate and a breakfast will be prepared by the men at $2. A combination breakfast pnd dniner can be ordered for $5." ' Gas facilities at Mineral Canyon have been enlarged this year as has the loading ramp at Moab. With these improvements, refueling and loading should flow quickly with only short delays, according ac-cording to Harry Thompson, Commodore of the event. Auto movement from Green River to Moab is being done again this year by the LDS Church of Moab with the assistance as-sistance of the Grand County Sheriff's Posse. After arrival in Moab on Sunday, the Friendship Feast (western style) will be served serv-ed to boaters as they dock. The Feast will begin at 12 noon and will be held on Sunday Sun-day only, continuing until 6 p.m. New this year is the First Annual Friendship Golf Tournament Tour-nament to be held on Monday, Mon-day, May 29 in Moab. The 18-hole event is sponsored by the Moab Golf Association, and everyone who likes to play golf is invited to take part. Entry fees for men will be $5 plus green fee; for women $2 plus green fee. No handicap is needed and tee off is at 8 a.m. All of the entry fees will be returned to five place prizes with first place receiving 35 per cent; second place 25 per cent; third place 17 per cent; fourth four-th place 13 per cent and fifth place 10 per cent.
