Show Property Damage Listed In Three Accidents Highway .Patrol Trooper Bruce Black investigated three accidents during the past week involving a great deal of property (Tarn (Ta-rn age. On April 10, at 1:30 a.m. on Utah Highway 12S about 1 mile east of the river bridge, a 19G9 Plymouth Ply-mouth Roadrunner driven by Jerry Richard MacTag-gat, MacTag-gat, 27, of Moab with a passenger, Doreteo Limas, Jr., 22, also of Moab, failed fail-ed to negotiate a curve and skidded across the road and into a barrow pit for about 140 feet. The car then skidded on a rocky shoulder for about 130 feet and then rolled oyer. According to the Investigating In-vestigating officers, the vehicle was out of control for a total of 420 feet and speed was estimated at 100 mph. MacTaggart was able to get out of the car unassisted, unassist-ed, however, Limas was pinned in the auto and had his right arm broken in several places as well as 'sustaining severe head lacerations. la-cerations. MacTaggart lost several teeth in the accident acci-dent which caused total damage to his auto. Limas is still in Allen Memorial Hospital in satisfactory condition. A blood test was performed per-formed on both men and MacTaggart was charged in Moab City Court with DWI. A second accident was investigated by Trooper Black on April 10, this one at 10:35 a.m. three miles north of LaSal Junction wihen Eugene Andrew Serve of Fruita, Colo., driying a 1967 Ford pickup, pick-up, attempted to pass a 1969 Ford pickup driven by Laurence G. Peterson of Wyoming who was pulling pull-ing an Airstream trailer. A Jeep and two motorcycles motorcy-cles were stopped alongside along-side the road and just as Serve began to pass, Pei-erson Pei-erson pulled out to miss the vehicles beside the road and hit the Serve vehicle. ve-hicle. No citations were issued because of a conflict con-flict in testimony. On April 13, at 2:40 p.m., two Moab youths, Ronald K. Carroll, 17 and Terry Lee Carroll, IS, were injured when Ronald lost control of the motorcycle motor-cycle he was riding and hit a bridge abutment, throwing Terry from the bike and pinning Ronald beneath it. Both suffered cuts, scratches and broken brok-en collar bones. Ronald was issued a citation for failure to control his vehicle ve-hicle and failure to wear a helmet. |
