Show Devils Drop First Baseball Game Tuesday in Fruita Fruita, Colorado turned the home run bomb loose on Moab Tuesday, to hand the Moab Red Devils their first loss of the season in a 6-3 contest played at Fruita. Fruita's leadoff batter pounded one of Steve Wy-att's Wy-att's southpaw slants out of the park on the first pitch of the frame to set the pattern. The Wildcats got only five hits off Wy-att, Wy-att, but the home runs produced pro-duced two runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings. Moab collected three hits from Paul Wyatt, Randy Zimmerman and Lenny Waltersehied. Traylor wa the winning pitcher for Fruita with Haller providing provi-ding most of the offense. Playing on a new, all dirt field the two team3 committed six errors, four by Moab. Moab scored all three runs in the fifth inning. in-ning. The loss put Moab's record re-cord at 4-1 for the season. The Devils are idle thi.s week. They travel to Montrose Mon-trose April 23, for a return game and host Fruita here on April 30. |
