Show Clfy Court Activities Reoorfed for Week Appearing in Moab City Court on Aug. 2, was Ronnie Dull, who was charged with second degree burglary in a break-in at the Eben Schart home. Mr. Dull appeared vith his attorney, William Benge and after hearing the evidence presented, the court found that a crime had been committed and that there was probable cause to believe be-lieve that Dull had committed commit-ted the crime. He was ordered order-ed bound over to District Court. On Aug. 4, Robert Lemon appeared for a preliminary hearing .on a second degree burglary charge. After the evidence was presented, the charge was reduced to breaking break-ing and entering. He entered enter-ed a plea of guilty and was sentenced to sjx months in jail. Arrangements were made for Mr. Lemon to enroll en-roll in Odyssey House in Salt Lake City for one year, however, how-ever, after only a few days, word was received by the City Court that he was leaving leav-ing the center and he was ordered to return to Moab to serve the jail term. Charlotte Kotik and Marilyn Mari-lyn Fay appeared on Aug. 7, on charges of possession of a controlled substance. They entered pleas of guilty and were fined $200 each or 30 days in jail with $100 of the fine and the jail sentence suspended. Isaac McCandless appeared appear-ed for arraignment on a charge of DWI. After entering enter-ing a plea of innocent, Tiis trial was set for Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. Attorney William Benge appeared ap-peared in behalf of Michael L. Pokress, Carl Duncan and Stephanie Shaw on Aug. 9. County Attorney Harry Snow made a motion to dismiss the charge of possession of a contrlled substance which had been brought against Miss Shaw. Attorney Benge then entered a plea of guilty on behalf of the two men. They were fined $200 each. On Aug. 9, Mike Butler appeared' ap-peared' on a charge of petit larceny and after entering a plea of guilty was sentenced to 30 days in jail with a stay of execution granted until un-til such time as Mr. Butler was released from a doctor's care. Samuel R. McDougall appeared ap-peared on Aug. 9, and entered enter-ed a plea of guilty to DWI. He was fined $200. Ronald E. Copeland appeared ap-peared on Aug. 9, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. After entering a plea of guilty, he was fined $200 with $100 of the fine suspended. On Aug. 10, George Griffin and Steven Galko appeared on possession of controlled substance charges. They entered en-tered pleas of guilty and were fined $200 each or 30 days ' in jail and are serving the jail term. Neil Van Valkenburg appeared ap-peared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of attempted at-tempted burglary on Aug. 10. After hearing the arguments presented, the court found that there was sufficient reason rea-son presented to order the man bound over to district ccurt. Bert W. Powell appeared for trial on Aug. 11, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. After ing the evidence presented, Mr. Powell was found guilty and fined $150 or 30 days in jail. He was granted time ta pay the fine. A preliminary Bearing Was held on Aug. 11, for Tom and Valerie Ossana on charges of producing a controlled substance. A. John Ruggeri of Price was judge pro-tem on the matter. After hearing the evidence presented, tbe Judge took the' matter under advisement and gave the defense de-fense counsel 20 days to submit sub-mit a brief on a point of law. County Attorney Harry Snow will have 20 days after .the brief is submitted to file an answer to the brief. Bradley J. Seavey appeared appear-ed on Aug. 12, on a charge, of possession of a controlled substance. He entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to a fine of $100 and 60 days in jail. Thirty days of the jail sentence were suspended upon payment of the fine. Isaac McCandless was found guilty of DWI at a trial on Aug. 15. He appeared without with-out counsel and after the court found him guilty he was sentenced to 40 days in jail. Kent L. Gordon appeared on Aug: 15, and entered a plea of guilty to a DWI charge. He was fined $200 and 60 days in jail with the jail sentence suspended upon condition that he pay the fine and attend the problem driver's school. |
