Show Plans for Cleanup Campaign Scheduled Moab's City-wide cleanup campaign is getting underway under-way this week with the announcement an-nouncement of a contest open to any organized groups who wish to participate. The contest con-test involves the collection of trash to be weighed and judged judg-ed on the actual cleanup day, March 25. First prize in th? contest will be $50, to be given gi-ven to the organization which -delivers the most trash per member. Judging on the contest will be on the basis of the number num-ber of pounds of trash collected col-lected per participant, 50 per cent of the points to be awarded. aw-arded. The final 50 per cent of the points will be awarded on the basis of the number of pounds . of trash collected which can be recycled. Trash should be separated into tw3 kinds, those which have return re-turn value and those which do not. Items which can be recycled include Coors aluminum alum-inum beer cans and pint bottles; bot-tles; Lucky Lager beer cans and bottles' and pop bottles. These items can be turned in at City Market after they are weighed. Cash from the re-cycleable re-cycleable items may be kept by the participants. Car bod- ies will not be accepted. For those persons who ds not belong to an organization, but who still wish to partici pate in the trash gathering project, sheets entitling them to a free hot dog and drink will be given for bags c trash brought to the weigh-in. weigh-in. The trash will be weighed at the City Yard on Car.e Creek Blvd., by members ot women's clubs in town. Members of the Busines? and Professional Women's Club will serve the hot dog feast at the City Park for all participants at 5:30 p.m. Those youngsters who do not; participate in the "Trade a Bag of Trash" campaign may attend the hot dog party, however, a charge of 25 cents will be made to help defray expenses. Residents this year are being be-ing -urged to clean up their own property as their part of the campaign. City and County Coun-ty crews will be on hand on cleanup day to haul away trash which has been collect-ed collect-ed at residences, if those persons per-sons with the trash contact the men. Women of Beta Eta sororiy will be serving lunch to the crews on cleanup day. All townspeople are urged to take this time to begin those long overdue repairs and cleanup projects which have been overlooked in the past. Loraine Hofer, cleanup chairman chair-man said. |
