Show Booster Club Honors Moab Gridders The Moab Booster Cub held their annual winter banquet at the Green Well Restuarant Tuesday evening honoring the football and golf teams. The festivities started with a delicious chicken dinner, served serv-ed to the largest crowd in history of the banquets. A total of 175 people attended the dinner, causing the able President Cal Wyatt to lend assistance in the serving of meals, and both Secretary tserxy VYaiterscniea ana treasurer treas-urer Annie Roberts to seat guests at tables. After dinner, block letters were given to the golf team, junior varsity and varsity football team players with comments from the coaches on each of the players. Some of the comments were humorous, some serious, but all com- ments led to a fun night for the players and guesis. Those in attendance learned that Merrill Mer-rill Noyes. Kenny Bohn and Mark Roberts had been picked by the Deseret News for the All State Team. Guest speaker for the evening was Dave Arslanian, the head football coach at Snow College. He spoke of how the enthusiasm of the audience, the town, the citv council, and especially the players actually permeated the room. It was an intangible that took the team to the State Finals, he said. He also said if you strive to be the best you will be the best. He used Moab's starting 136 pound center as an example of someone who obviously constantly tried to be the best. He warned the group not to be complacent and sit on their laurels, but to keep trying to achieve that which they know they are capable of achieving. The next dinner is tentatively tentativ-ely set for late December honoring the cheerleaders, drill team and girls teams of Grand County High School. |
