Show Housing Requirement Listed by Representative Due to some apparent misunderstanding on various va-rious occasions, Cary Preston, the County Sanitarian, San-itarian, thought that it would be appropriate to inform those who were thinking of making application appli-cation to Farmers' Home, Federal Housing, or Veterans' Administration Admini-stration for housing loans to contact the Health Department first. Mr. Preston said the reason for this is that these Federal Agencies require the Health Department De-partment to inspect and evaluate the water and sewage systems as to how they will meet the State of Utah's Health Standards. He said, further, fur-ther, that usually these things can be worked out but occasionally they can't or they may be more trouble than they are worth to the prospective pros-pective buyers. Mr. Preston added that the most time consuming evaluation is on the water system. These federal agencies will not even loan money to homes w ith unapproved water supplies sup-plies so it is good to check first. In Grand County there are two unapproved un-approved principal systems, sys-tems, Holyoak Subdivision Subdivi-sion and the City of Thompson, if a perfon is on a well then they will need to send in water samples from this well. The necessary bottles can be obtained through Cecil Shaffer, the County Coun-ty Building Inspector, his office is located in the City-County building in Moab. Mr. Preston says that he is in Moab on Thursdays Thurs-days and is usually in the Building Inspector's office between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. If he isn't there please leave a message at 259-5121 or 259-5602. |
