Show Fishing Season Opener Set for This Weekend Utah's fishing season will open this Saturday, June 2, with three lakes on the LaSal Mountains stocked for the annual event. Division of Wildlife Resources Re-sources officials stated this week that both Don's and Hidden Lakes as well as Oowah Lake would be, stocked with catch-ables catch-ables prior to opening day. They warned that roads into the lakes are very difficult to traverse during and shortly after heavy storms. In their annual fishing fish-ing forecast, Division officials indicated that Mill Creek has a fairly good natural population of brown trout, bur it is very hard to fish because be-cause of the rough ter-rain ter-rain The water is extremely ex-tremely high and muddy mud-dy at present, also. The report indicated that Warner Lake, Dark Canyon Lake and Blue Lake w ill be stocked with catchables as soon as they become accessable. It is expected that there may be some carryover fish in Dark Canyon and Medicine Lakes, although al-though they will not be open to traffic in time for the opener. Other fishing spots in the area which will be stocked for the opener include Monticello Lake, where there are some carryover fish as well; Joe's Valley, where fishing fish-ing is anticipated to be good; and Race Track. Heavy snows in the LaSals during April have made much of the mountain moun-tain unaccessable and Forest Service officials indicated that in all probability pro-bability it will be the end of June before the passes can be reached. |
