Show Cyclist Killed In Drop from Slickrock Trail A motorcycle accident on May 26, about 10:30 a.m. took the life of Roger Rog-er J. Feriante, 25, of Provo. Investigating officers Carl Davis of the Grand County Sheriff's Department Depart-ment and Ron Wood of the Utah Highway Patrol reported re-ported that apparently Feriante and a companion, compan-ion, Kevin Hansen, also of Salt Lake City, were taking a trip along the Slickrock Bike Trail east of Moab when the accident ac-cident occurred. Hansen, who was leading lead-ing the duo, stopped near the edge of a cliff overlooking over-looking Negro Bill Canyon. Can-yon. He saw that his companion com-panion was accellerating and tried to wave to him to stop, however the Feriante Fer-iante youth did not understand under-stand Hansen's signal and continued to speed forward. By the time he saw the drop off, officers offi-cers said, he was unable un-able to stop and fell about 600 ft. to his death. Dale Phelps of Price, who was fishing along the Colorado River heard the motorcycles and looked up as the incident inci-dent occurred. The body was removed to Grand Valley Mortuary Mortu-ary and Feriante's parents par-ents in Idaho were notified. |
